Pixel Art is one of those things a little like Marmite, you’ll either love it or hate it.

The majority of people seem to like it though, the retro feel from yesteryear.

It’s funny, with so many advances in Graphics, Display and Printing, that we should go back to designing something that was the ‘norm’ in the 1980’s.

So, with that said, we couldn’t resist a little ‘Retro Pixel Art’ (creating designs with blocks).

The first design we created was the ‘Retro, Foot Guards Recruiting Machine'.

Our thoughts here were to imagine if, during the huge explosion of ‘Arcade Games’ in the 80's, that the Military actually thought, “Hey, let’s take advantage here .............”.

You can imagine inserting your coin, selecting your Regiment and then crashing through the Guards Depot Assault Course (another idea to come).

After this, we moved onto Retro Games and the old ‘What if......’ games were created with a more recognisable Regimental Theme.

We’ve lots of ideas for the ‘Arcade Game’ look, but the first to land was ‘GuardTris’, like Tetris but with Guardsmen!

It was fun creating the positions of the Guardsmen that would drop down the screen to try and make a line, and the design is made to look a game is being played but incomplete.

The screen shows the Regimental Formation Year as the score and the bonus shows 2, as in Buttons in Twos.

It should be noted that no Guardsmen were hurt in the manipulation of graphics ................. some of those positions look painful!
