The difference between Standard and Retro/Vintage prints

Sometimes, on particular designs, a design will be created (and printed) with a Vintage/Retro look.

Hopefully this will explain the difference.

The image below shows the same design, but printed in 2 different ways.

The Vintage look is shown on the left, the standard look is shown on the right.

The Vintage look is given to a design to make it look ............................. well, vintage - as in a little worn.

In the older days, after numerous washes to a garment, you would often have cracking to the design (things are a lot better now).  You could always tell if someone was wearing an old t-shirt because it would look a little faded and worn.

Today, printing technology has improved vastly so this hardly happens, but, those 'vintage look' t-shirts are making a HUGE comeback, so we can 'print' it to look like it's a vintage/worn garment.

We do this by removing some of the design before printing, to give that worn/vintage look.  Some designs look great as a Vintage print, others don't work at all, so we choose very carefully.

You may ask, "why would I want something that looks worn and old ............... when I'm buying a brand-new garment?"

The simple answer is, it really depends on the design being printed (as well as personal taste).

Imagine if you will, wearing a design that has been created as a keepsake from an event many years ago.  If you had bought that item at the time, it would look a little worn by now?

For example, we are (have) created some T-Shirt designs from time spent at the Guards Depot.
Now, for some, this is many, many years ago, so having the print as a 'Vintage' look makes the t-shirt look like it's from the time mentioned.

As we say though, some people will love this idea, others won't ....................... but's that's the great thing about ColdstreamKit - we'll give you the choice to decide for yourself!
